On 22nd September 1995 RAAF Police Dog Handlers past and present were invited to the opening of the RAAF Police Dog Handler Photographic History Presentation. (Affectionately know as 'The Doggie's Museum'.) This display is situated at the Police Dog Training Centre, RAAF Security and Fire School, RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland.
The gathering was a wonderful reunion of past and present Doggies and their families. The Opening was followed by a barbecue lunch culminating in an informal dining in night at Amberley Bowls Club. Throughout the day one of the topics frequently raised was the formation of a Police Dog Handlers Association. The seeds were sown and germinated with the inauguration of the 'RAAF Police Dog Handlers Association' in July 1996.

For larger View - Click on photo.Branches of the RAAF Police Dog Handlers Association are in most states of Australia with the main branch in S.E.Queensland. This was mainly due to the large number of past RAAF Police Dog Handlers who have settled in Queensland and the close proximity of the RAAF Police Dog Training Centre at Amberley. On 25th April 1998 RAAF Police Dog Handlers past and present marched in the Toowoomba ANZAC day march.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Police Dog Handlers Association was held that same day followed by a Barbecue at the Downs Hotel in Drayton. It was decided that the Association would march each year in the Toowoomba ANZAC Day march. Subsequent AGM's would be held on 25th April each year, with an organized social event on or around that date.
